More detail about the object:

The Cairn of Peace is a unique war memorial with a mission to promote peace. It was built to honour all the victims of the legendary Battle of Austerlitz (2. 12. 1805) and to commemorate all wars.

In the museum adjacent to the memorial you can see an extraordinarily moving multi-media exhibition entitled “Battle of the Three Emperors. Slavkov / Austerlitz 1805” and another entitled “The Austerlitz Phenomenon”. The design of the exhibitions and their underlying concepts are unusual: they offer the visitor not only information, but a powerful experience too. You find out not only what happened here at the chilly end of 1805, but also literally get to live through the Battle of Austerlitz right alongside the participants that day – the armed soldiers and the very emperors themselves. Original exhibits – steel combat weapons and firearms, uniforms, personal valuables, archive documentation and illustrations - are supplemented with monitors and computerised animation, video-projections and touch-screens with databases of text, illustrations and information about the particular battle and the Napoleonic Wars.

Opening times: open all year
