Archaeological monuments
A church and monastery once stood here during the times of the Great Moravian Empire. According to tradition, Cyril and Metodej were to have transferred the remains of Pope St. Climent here. The remains of a church, wooden chapel and St. Gorazda's belfry are found here.
The building was built on the foundations of first discovered building from the great Moravian, the church "Na Valách.” It was uncovered during an excavation of the Moravian municipal museum in 1949 by Vilém Hrubý in the middle of an extensive burial site.
The grand Moravian hill fort from the 9th-11th century, archaeological conservation area. Archaeological excavation has revealed the foundations of a fortified farmstead, church, burial grounds and other buildings. The hill fort was protected by a wall made from stone, wood and soil. The moat was substituted by the Dyje River and its branches.
The uncovered foundation of the Slavic grad from the 8-9th century, which became one of the most significant centres of the Great Moravian Empire of Mojmir in the 9th century. Most probably the site of the activities of saints Cyril and Methodius (year 863 ad.).
